Gillian Moore
FOREST & NATURE SCHOOL EDUCATOR
Ocean State Kids
Gillian Moore brings over three decades of experience in outdoor education, physical literacy, and youth development to Ocean State Kids. A certified Forest and Nature Practitioner through the Child and Nature Alliance of Canada, Gillian has dedicated her career to creating safe, inclusive, and experiential learning environments rooted in nature.
She served as a Lead Forest and Nature School Practitioner and Environmental Educator with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, where she facilitated curriculum-based outdoor programs that fostered self-confidence, self-reliance, and independent thinking in children of all ages. Gillian also designed and led a comprehensive homeschool program for students ages 2–18, weaving language arts, mathematics, science, physical education, and the arts into meaningful, place-based outdoor learning experiences.
Since moving to Rhode Island five years ago, Gillian has joined the education staff at Casey Farm, served as an educator for the Conanicut Island Sailing Foundation, and now runs a sailing program she created for 5–7-year-olds. She is an avid sailor, former member of the Canadian National Sailing Team and Olympic Trials competitor, and professional ski instructor. She brings a rare blend of athletic excellence, patience, and mentorship to her work with children.
In 2026, Gillian will lead Ocean State Kids’ older age groups (ages 5–8 and 9–12), expanding our offerings for growing learners who are ready for deeper exploration, skill-building, and adventure in the natural world.
