A morning of dirt and the important work of getting messy. We are builders, moving mountains (of dirt) with construction trucks, shovels, hands, even feet -- ground ourselves, calming the nervous system with mud. Children will mix their own “garden soil”, practice filling flower pots like real growers, and gather for a cozy story about how things grow.

Let’s pretend we’re chickens — the kind of nostalgic, simple fun many adults have forgotten. A perfectly silly morning awaits. We’ll start with a cheerful chicken story before visiting a real flock (and yes, we’ll probably giggle about chicken poop), then flee the coop for some flapping, pecking, and waddling during our very serious pretend “chicken time,” before decorating our own cardboard eggs.

A quiet adventure in noticing, looking up, listening and learning to find the wild things that fly. A wildlife walk from the open field to the cliff overlook, keeping our eyes and ears open for birds using visual guides. Tiny naturalists in training.

We will share a plant story before little growers get their hands in the dirt, helping press soil blocks and carefully tuck seeds into tiny new homes using tweezers. After the planting work, children will get creative, misting paint over ferns, flowers, and even their own hands to reveal beautiful nature silhouettes on a giant canvas.

We’ll turn our compost bin into a community art piece with joyful marks of children in the garden. Little explorers will then observe worms up close with magnifying glasses and try a simple “worm experiment” using droppers to see how these tiny soil helpers move and respond.
