We’ll blend art and nature by using crayons and watercolor paints to design brilliant, one-of-a-kind snowflakes. This sensory-rich project lets children explore color, texture, and pattern.

2 YEARS OLD

ENCOURAGEMENTS
Encourage your child to draw with crayons on paper, then paint over the drawings with watercolors.
Help them explore how the crayon resists the paint.

3 YEARS OLD

ENCOURAGEMENTS
Ask your child to draw snowflake patterns with white crayons and watch the design appear as they paint.
Encourage them to describe the colors they see.

How does the snowflake look when you add watercolor?

4 YEARS OLD

ENCOURAGEMENTS
Encourage your child to layer crayon designs and add different colors of paint to create more complex snowflakes.
Ask them to make patterns and predict how the final design will look.
