MOSS + MOON CLUB
Child-led Nature Play
North Smithfield, RI

**STARTING APRIL 2026**
Join Moss + Moon Club for a weekly outdoor gathering for young children and their caregivers who believe childhood belongs outside. Rooted in the natural landscapes of the North Smithfield area, this group creates space for little ones to explore fields, forests, and open sky in a rhythm that feels both intentional and free.
Each week unfolds with gentle structure and child-led discovery. Through sensory-rich invitations, seasonal projects, storytelling, movement, and unhurried exploration, children are encouraged to build confidence, independence, and a deep sense of belonging in the natural world.
Rather than replicating a classroom outdoors, the Moss + Moon Club embraces curiosity as the curriculum — allowing play, observation, and wonder to guide the learning process.
This group is equally about community. Caregivers are active participants, strengthening their connection with their children while building meaningful relationships with other families - nurturing not only early development, but also the village that surrounds it.
Come gather, wander, and grow with us.

how it works...
As a nonprofit organization, we rely on membership donations and community partners to keep Ocean State Kids thriving! Your membership is more than just a fee—it’s essentially a donation. This contribution helps us remain sustainable, cover operational costs, and expand our offerings so we can continue to serve children and families for years to come. We strive to keep weekly costs affordable, averaging $5–$12 per week, depending on the Membership Donation plan you choose. Please note that Memberships become available when families forfeit their participation or new groups start in new locations. Because memberships fund vital program expenses that are budgeted and paid for in advance, they are generally nonrefundable. If a group is unavailable, please join the waitlist here.

Audra Wescott
Audra Westcott is the proud mother of an incredible two-year-old, Harrison, and describes parenthood as both her greatest joy and her most transformative challenge.
Raised on a small farm in a rural town, Audra spent her childhood freely exploring the woods, hayfields, and streams that surrounded her home alongside a close-knit circle of friends. A lifelong animal lover, she was rarely without a dog at her feet, a kitten in her arms, or a baby bird in need of care. Those early years nurtured a deep respect for the natural world and a curiosity that would shape her path forward.
While earning her Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Sciences, Audra pursued her passion for understanding living systems by contributing to global research efforts in conservation biology, ecology, and animal behavior. She later transitioned into a career as a scientist studying cancer biology and treatment discovery, where her work focused on advancing meaningful, life-changing research.
Motherhood reshaped her trajectory in ways she never anticipated. Choosing to dedicate herself fully to raising and homeschooling Harrison, Audra immersed herself in the study of child development and behavior. In this season of life, her interests include sustainable living and farming, animal training and therapy work, and embracing the rhythms and lessons of all four seasons outdoors.
Audra’s journey with Ocean State Kids began as a participating parent. Through weekly gatherings with Harrison, she rediscovered the magic of her own childhood and experienced firsthand the profound impact of nature-based play and supportive community. As a Group Leader, Audra is committed to cultivating an environment where children and parents feel safe to be their authentic selves, explore their curiosities at their own pace, and grow without judgment. She hopes to plant seeds of knowledge, confidence, and reverence for the natural world in every family she walks alongside.
