**STARTING SEPTEMBER 2026**

Ocean State Kids is proud to introduce a new Outdoor Classroom residency at Norman Bird Sanctuary beginning Fall 2026. This unique nature-based program invites children ages 3–8 and 5 - 8 years to learn, play, and grow together in one of Aquidneck Island’s most treasured conservation landscapes.

Meeting weekly in the forests, fields, and coastal habitats of the Sanctuary, children will build confidence, friendships, and foundational early learning skills through hands-on exploration, imaginative play, and meaningful connection with nature. Our experienced outdoor educators guide children through sensory-rich experiences that support social-emotional development, early literacy, problem solving, and physical well-being — all through joyful time spent outside.

OSK is deeply committed to inclusive, strength-based learning, creating a welcoming environment for neurodiverse children and a supportive community for families seeking a more connected and developmentally respectful approach to early education.

More than a program, this residency offers families a chance to slow down, build relationships, and experience childhood the way it was meant to be — curious, connected, and rooted in the natural world.

**Modified Drop-Off Program: We honor that independence grows through trust and connection. This is a modified drop-off program where parents are welcome to stay nearby during the transition period or anytime their child needs extra reassurance. As confidence builds, families may choose to step away during program hours. Our goal is to support each child at their own pace, creating a gentle and respectful path toward independence.

how it works...

As a nonprofit organization, we rely on membership donations and community partners to keep Ocean State Kids thriving! Your membership is more than just a fee—it’s essentially a donation. This contribution helps us remain sustainable, cover operational costs, and expand our offerings so we can continue to serve children and families for years to come. We strive to keep weekly costs affordable, averaging $5–$12 per week, depending on the Membership Donation plan you choose. Please note that Memberships become available when families forfeit their participation or new groups start in new locations. Because memberships fund vital program expenses that are budgeted and paid for in advance, they are generally nonrefundable. If a group is unavailable, please join the waitlist here.
